How I use BrainWave Apps

As you guys probably know, I use several apps in the course of putting the videos together. I also use very different apps throughout the day to help with concentration, meditation, movement and falling asleep. These apps are called BrainWave and they are audio-based apps that play sound waves depending on the mode you choose. These are just humming sounds that you must listen to using headphones.

I had used Binaural beats for years, for studying and concentration, mostly from free YouTube videos. The problem is you can’t use YouTube as background and it’s complicated to figure out which ones to use for what. i like the pure sound without any distraction, no waterfalls, crickets or flowing ponds.

Since finding an app bundle called BrainWave on the Apple Store, I have used it for anything from preparing to exercise, to falling asleep to doing super helpful 10-minute meditations.

Braiwave is an audio app that lets you play different Binaural Beats.

What are binaural beats?

Binaural beats are basically buzzing, sound-wave-like sounds that you listen to with headphones. These sounds emulate brainwaves that exist naturally in the brain. The “science” behind it is called Brainwave Entrainment.

Brainwave entrainment is a method to stimulate the brain into entering a specific state by using a pulsing sound, light, or electromagnetic field. The pulses elicit the brain’s ‘frequency following’ response, encouraging the brainwaves to align to the frequency of a given beat.

This ‘frequency following’ response of brainwave entrainment can be seen in action with those prone to epilepsy. If a strobe flashes at their seizure frequency, the brain will ‘entrain’ to the flashing light, resulting in a seizure.

On the positive side, this same mechanism is commonly used to induce many brainwave states; such as a trance, enhanced focus, relaxation, meditation or sleep induction. The brainwave entrainment effectively pushes the entire brain into a certain state.

Brainwave entrainment works for almost everyone.  It is a great way to lead your mind into states that you might usually have difficulty reaching, allowing you to experience what those states feel like.

Binaural apps on my phone

These are the Binaural apps on my IPhone. I recommend this bundle of apps called BrainWave. I first got one of them to try, the one called BrainWave. Then I decided to try the other ones and got the full bundle. The full bundle cost $7.99 which is a steal considering the impact it has made in my life.

The other binaural apps I have don’t have settings, which is not a bad thing necessarily. What makes the BrainWave apps special is their specificity. You can select the outcome/effect you are looking for. They have tons of pre-sets specific to what you may need.

I also use the NeuroAthlete app in the “Speed” mode to do literally move faster when doing house work and tasks. The science behind this explains is interesting and reminds me of the other post I did on brain waves and autism . The bottom line is: it works for me. That’s why I recommend it. Considering how much more stressful life seems to be these days, this has helped a lot and it’s so inexpensive.

When I need to move faster

NEURO ATHLETE > SPEED MODE = MOVE FASTER

I also use the NeuroAthlete app in the “Speed” mode to do literally move faster when doing house work and tasks. It’s possible that there may be a placebo effect to this, I can’t guarantee anything about the science behind it. But the fact of the matter is, it works for me. Considering how much more stressful life seems to be these days, this has helped a lot and it’s so inexpensive.
